Jeannie Byrd is the Pediatric Sickle Cell Case Manager for Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.  She has been in this position since 2012, after nearly 30 years as an adult cardiology nurse.  In her current role, she is the first point of contact for many parents who have questions about their child’s care or who just need reassurance.   Her favorite parts of the job are entertaining the kids in clinic and helping parents understand the complexities of the disease.
